Our Mission
Lawyers Lend-A-Hand to Youth (LLAH) is a 501(c)3 organization that channels the legal community’s resources to promote mentoring and tutoring programs in disadvantaged Chicago communities.
LLAH's primary initiative is Lend-A-Hand Tutoring at the CBA, which provides free one-to-one tutoring and mentoring to students from two public charter schools: Montessori School of Englewood and the Betty Shabazz Academy (BSA) in the Greater Grand Crossing community. Tutoring takes place on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. during the school year at the Chicago Bar Association, 321 S. Plymouth Court, Chicago, IL. The program has a focus on literacy and transports the students to tutoring by bus. For the past two years we offered online tutoring due to the pandemic, providing the technology to do so for those who needed it. While we returned to face-to-face tutoring for the fall semester of 2022, we continue online tutoring for those who need or prefer it. |
